Upcoming Projects for 2021

Hello, everyone!

Sam here!

As usual, we are busy bees (ahem…Buzzer!) over here at the EMA! We wanted to take a short break and let you know about even more projects we are working on for 2021. Our focus for a large part of our website is to make information easy to find for the residents and visitors of our beautiful county. We don’t want you to have to struggle and spend hours searching online or on the phone for information which should be easily accessible, such as where to dispose of hazardous materials, when the warning sirens are being tested in each city, or how to help protect your identity.

For our next phase of assisting the community, we are in the process of working with the Camden County Health Department, Lake Regional Health Services, and other area agencies/businesses to help iron out a cohesive plan to mass distribute vaccines in Camden County. Of course, we also partner with our neighbors in Miller and Morgan Counties when it comes to something of this scale. Stay tuned for updates on that as they become available!

We are also partnering with CCHD and LRHS to incorporate COVID-19 best practices into our Emergency Preparedness Presentations we provide. This will include a CAMDEN COUNTY FAQ Sheet, meaning the answers to the questions on the sheet will be as specific to the residents of Camden County as we can possibly manage. All residents of Missouri already have access to the CDC’s information, as well as Missouri’s website: mostopscovid.com a.k.a. https://covidvaccine.mo.gov/

The next project in the works is bringing local information on a number of topics to our residents and visitors. Among those topics will be listings for those who need food/medicine delivered to their homes (as there are already businesses/organizations set up to provide this service), cooling/warming shelters (confirmed), and other subjects we receive calls for here at the EMA. We would already like to thank the Missouri Ozarks Community Action (MOCA) group for the use of their resources and partnering with us on this project!

This is just the beginning of what we are working on for 2021, so stay tuned for more updates!

I became the Director of Camden County, MO Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in August 2021 after previously serving as the agency's Deputy Director for a year. As the Director, I manage the day-to-day operations of the EMA, work on the Local Emergency Operations Plan, manage the Facebook, Twitter, and website for the EMA, oversee the webpages for the Camden County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), provide oversight and run exercises for the Camden County, MO Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and work with the Camden County, MO Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). I hold a general class amateur radio license, call sign KE0LMY. I am also the official "Bee Keeper" of our mascot, Buzzer the Bee, who wants you to BEE Prepared!!! I'm a certified CERT trainer and WebEOC trainer for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. I maintain an EXTENSIVE and ever-growing list of credentials and train vigorously with first responder agencies, other EMAs, and with anyone I believe will help me become a better, more well-rounded emergency management director.
