Mass Vax Update and Our Day at the EMA!

Good afternoon, all!

Sam here!

Rod and I were on a conference call with Region F about the Mass Vaccination Event. The weather has put a bit of a monkey wrench into our plans and the National Guard’s battle rhythm for the region.

I had to get to other things we are arranging and rescheduling, so Rod will bring us information when the call is completed.

In the meantime, we have rescheduled the food we ordered for the volunteers, first responders, and nurses/vaccinators to the new date (see Press Release from Lake Regional Health System), we have also rescheduled our Community Emergency Response Team Volunteers, as well as the delivery of an additional 100 delineators (tall traffic cones) we are being provided with via MoDOT, and MORE! PHEW!

We have a CERT volunteer working hard with Buzzer to put together some informational bags for the event which will contain information from the EMA about identity protection, CERT, emergency preparedness, and the Camden County Health Department Frequently Asked Questions page.

Later this evening, our CERT Coordinator, Tim George, and CERT members will be packing the CERT trailer with everything we think we will need to provide a warming area for the first responders and guardsman on traffic control, including heaters, tables, chairs, snacks, etc.

After that, our CERT members will have radio communications training tonight because we feel that you can never practice and train enough when it comes to communications!

Stay tuned for more updates!

I became the Director of Camden County, MO Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in August 2021 after previously serving as the agency's Deputy Director for a year. As the Director, I manage the day-to-day operations of the EMA, work on the Local Emergency Operations Plan, manage the Facebook, Twitter, and website for the EMA, oversee the webpages for the Camden County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), provide oversight and run exercises for the Camden County, MO Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and work with the Camden County, MO Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). I hold a general class amateur radio license, call sign KE0LMY. I am also the official "Bee Keeper" of our mascot, Buzzer the Bee, who wants you to BEE Prepared!!! I'm a certified CERT trainer and WebEOC trainer for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. I maintain an EXTENSIVE and ever-growing list of credentials and train vigorously with first responder agencies, other EMAs, and with anyone I believe will help me become a better, more well-rounded emergency management director.
