What’s the Buzz – Part Two!

With Director Rod Sederwall off at Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program training, Buzzer and Sam are working hard around the office!

We have some updates planned for our Weather page. We’re updating the counts on our masks and cleaning and sanitizing the office/conference room since we have opened back up for groups to hold training classes. We’re planning an upcoming CERT training class (stay tuned to CERT’s website for more information on that!) in May or June! Buzzer hasn’t quite grown into his safety gear yet! And, of course, Buzzer is keeping the coffee coming to supercharge Sam so she can keep up with him!

One of our newest projects is a Volunteer Awards Program! We want to recognize the volunteers for both CERT and for the EMA who give their time for meetings, training, events, traffic control, and everything else we ask them to do throughout the year! Sam pitched the idea to Rod last Friday and got the green light, so she will be working hard to form a rewarding program based on volunteer hours for our CERT/EMA volunteers! If you have suggestions or wish to help Sam build this program, drop by the EMA at 12 VFW Rd, Camdenton, MO, Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Stay tuned for more updates!

I became the Director of Camden County, MO Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in August 2021 after previously serving as the agency's Deputy Director for a year. As the Director, I manage the day-to-day operations of the EMA, work on the Local Emergency Operations Plan, manage the Facebook, Twitter, and website for the EMA, oversee the webpages for the Camden County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), provide oversight and run exercises for the Camden County, MO Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and work with the Camden County, MO Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). I hold a general class amateur radio license, call sign KE0LMY. I am also the official "Bee Keeper" of our mascot, Buzzer the Bee, who wants you to BEE Prepared!!! I'm a certified CERT trainer and WebEOC trainer for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. I maintain an EXTENSIVE and ever-growing list of credentials and train vigorously with first responder agencies, other EMAs, and with anyone I believe will help me become a better, more well-rounded emergency management director.
