Greetings, all!
Sam here!
Another whirlwind week is coming to an end (okay, not really) and I wanted to update you all on the work we have accomplished this week!
On Monday, we met with a church group who was interested in becoming an emergency shelter in case of a large scale emergency. They have some challenges to overcome and then we will be happy to help them with their plans for that project!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we held an accelerated Community Emergency Response Team training class for residents of the Village of Four Seasons. They did a phenomenal job and were engaged during the entire session. They were extremely excited to take part in and learn some of the practical training we give them. This training includes extinguishing small fires in CERT’s burn pan, learning line searches, and learning interior searches for structures. If you are interested in joining our CERT, check out their website!
Congratulations and welcome new CERTs Bill, Paul, Jerry, and Mimi!!! We can’t wait to work with you!

Great job to new Camden County CERT Trainers Ranita and Renee! You did a fantastic job!
Thursday brought our budget meeting with Auditor Jimmy Laughlin which went well. This should give us plenty of opportunity and support to continue to support emergency preparedness efforts for our county for Fiscal Year 2022. We also completed EOC Training Session #4 for our CERTs, including two of our brand new CERTs from this week’s class! This was extremely helpful, as they not only found TWO breakers popped here in the EOC, they also created a list of equipment and items the EOC is lacking! They also prepped the CERT Rehab Trailer for use at this weekend’s Shootout, where CERT will once again operate the First Aid Tent in Captain Ron’s parking lot.
Finally, today was catch up day for me. Paperwork, phone calls, emails, load a few last minute things on the CERT trailer, Mid-County Fire dropped by for some extra cases of water for their firefighters for the Shootout, and tonight we’ll be staging the trailer!
