Regular Duties Continue at the EMA

Hello, everyone!

Sam here!

Along with the upcoming Missouri National Guard Mass Vaccination Event, all of us here at the EMA continue with the plethora of daily duties and projects we are working on for 2021.

We would like to thank Shana Aubuschon, Director of Share the Harvest Food Pantry, for taking the time to give us a tour of the facility and explain what services they provide to the community!

For those who have never been to their location at 689 N. State Hwy 7 Camdenton, MO 65020, they basically have two sides they operate. On one side of the building is the food pantry and on the other side is their thrift store. They also have a large growing tunnel on site.

With a large, welcoming entryway, COVID-19 precautions in place, and a consistent pattern for guest/new guest intake, Share the Harvest is a haven for those who need some help. The organization offers both goods and services, including shelves full of free items to assist those who are in need right in the large-well lit waiting room.

They have large, walk-in freezer and refrigerator areas, as well as storage and clearly marked areas for food received through USDA The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). They have a breakroom, restrooms, closet and storage areas, along with a large seasonally-organized storage room for the stock for their thrift store. The thrift store is well-lit, with big aisles which are well-organized. Their stock rotates quickly, so it’s a good idea to check back often!

Shana is such a big-hearted woman and she has true passion for helping the community as much as possible. She expressed her interest in continuing to serve as an emergency hub in our Local Emergency Operations Plan in case the county needs her and wants to be in on the planning process to help us and answer any questions we have as we continue to work on the overhaul of the LEOP for Camden County! This kind of community outreach and support certainly makes our job easier and we couldn’t be more grateful!

If you are curious about Share the Harvest Food Pantry, want to make a donation, or have questions, please visit their website, find them on Facebook, give them a call at 573-873-5855, or email them at director@sharetheharvestfoodpantry.org.

Thank you again to Shana and her staff for the warm welcome! We look forward to continuing our partnership with Share the Harvest!

I became the Director of Camden County, MO Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in August 2021 after previously serving as the agency's Deputy Director for a year. As the Director, I manage the day-to-day operations of the EMA, work on the Local Emergency Operations Plan, manage the Facebook, Twitter, and website for the EMA, oversee the webpages for the Camden County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), provide oversight and run exercises for the Camden County, MO Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and work with the Camden County, MO Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). I hold a general class amateur radio license, call sign KE0LMY. I am also the official "Bee Keeper" of our mascot, Buzzer the Bee, who wants you to BEE Prepared!!! I'm a certified CERT trainer and WebEOC trainer for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency. I maintain an EXTENSIVE and ever-growing list of credentials and train vigorously with first responder agencies, other EMAs, and with anyone I believe will help me become a better, more well-rounded emergency management director.
